The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) marked Sindhi Cultural Day with powerful rallies across several cities in Pakistan. These rallies, held in Karachi, Kotri, and Kandyaro, served as a platform to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Sindh while also highlighting the region's ongoing socio-political struggles.
Activists, cultural enthusiasts, and concerned citizens gathered, proudly displaying symbols of Sindhi culture such as traditional music, vibrant Ajrak textiles, and iconic Sindhi caps. JSFM leaders, including Chairman Sohail Abro, Zubair Sindhi, and Amar Azadi, delivered impassioned speeches that called for Sindh's rights, independence, and sovereignty.
The rallies emphasized the importance of defending Sindh's cultural identity against external pressures. Sohail Abro powerfully stated, "The people of Sindh will never compromise on their rights or resources," stressing the crucial role of preserving Sindhi culture as a key part of resisting these pressures.
A central theme resonating throughout the rallies was the rejection of religious extremism. JSFM leaders voiced deep concern over its growing influence in the region, which they believe threatens Sindh's secular identity and peaceful coexistence. The movement called for a return to traditional values of tolerance and inclusivity.
The JSFM also expressed serious anxieties regarding new canal projects on the Indus River. They warned that these projects could deprive Sindh of its rightful share of water, endangering agriculture, livelihoods, and the region's delicate ecosystem. The leaders demanded a fair distribution of water resources to ensure Sindh's sustainable development.
The rallies served as a platform to condemn the ongoing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Sindhi and Baloch political workers. JSFM leaders passionately called for accountability and justice for these victims, demanding an end to these human rights violations. They urged international organizations and governments to take notice of these injustices.
A core message throughout the rallies was the call for an independent Sindhudesh. JSFM leaders reiterated that independence is essential for safeguarding Sindh's culture, resources, and sovereignty. They emphasized the need for unity and self-determination to protect the region from systemic exploitation and suppression.
Zubair Sindhi powerfully stated, "The world must take notice of the ongoing injustices against Sindhis and Baloch. Sindh will continue its peaceful struggle until justice and freedom are achieved. Our culture is our strength, and today we send a clear message to the world: Sindh will resist any attempt to undermine its identity or sovereignty."
