The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to provide a seamless and eco-friendly travel experience for devotees attending the Mahakumbh Mela 2025. Starting December 15th, an innovative online e-rickshaw and e-auto booking system will be launched, modeled after popular taxi services like Ola and Uber.
This initiative, dubbed "Green Mahakumbh," aims to promote a sustainable environment by encouraging the use of electric vehicles. The service will operate at fixed rates and will be readily available at key locations such as railway stations, bus stands, airports, and hotels across Prayagraj.
To ensure the safety and comfort of women devotees, a special "Pink Taxi" service will be introduced, exclusively operated by women drivers. This feature reflects the government's commitment to providing a secure and welcoming environment for all pilgrims.
The e-vehicle system is being spearheaded by Comfy E Mobility, a state-based startup that has partnered with private transport providers to deliver this affordable and eco-friendly transportation option. Devotees can easily book their rides through an online platform, which offers the convenience of transparent fare calculation based on kilometers traveled.
"Our goal is to provide a convenient, safe, and environmentally friendly app-based e-rickshaw taxi service for devotees coming from across the country and abroad," explained Manu Gupta, Founder and Director of Comfy E Mobility. R K Chauhan, CEO of Comfy E Mobility, emphasized their commitment to "reducing air pollution and increasing employment opportunities by introducing eco-friendly electric vehicles as taxis."
To bridge any language barriers, drivers will undergo training in Google Voice Assistance, ensuring clear communication with passengers. All e-rickshaws will be GPS-tracked for enhanced safety and equipped with enclosed cabins for added comfort. A dedicated call center will be operational to address any complaints or concerns from devotees.
The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 is anticipated to draw a massive crowd of 45 crore devotees, requiring robust transportation infrastructure. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to deploy over 7,000 roadway buses and 550 shuttle buses, while the railways will run 3,000 trains, including an additional 1,000 special ones.
The launch of this innovative e-rickshaw and e-auto booking system is a significant step towards ensuring smooth travel, promoting sustainability, and enhancing the overall experience for devotees attending the Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
