Bollywood actor and politician Ravi Kishan recently attended a screening of the highly anticipated film 'The Sabarmati Report' in New Delhi. Held at the Balyogi Auditorium in Parliament, the event brought together prominent figures to witness the cinematic exploration of a significant historical event.
Speaking to ANI after the screening, Kishan lauded the film as an honest attempt to bring forth the truth surrounding the tragic burning of the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. "The truth that the country wants to know, a major conspiracy was hatched - we are going to watch that truth today," he stated, emphasizing the film's potential to unveil hidden truths.
Kishan's comments highlight the widespread interest and anticipation surrounding 'The Sabarmati Report'. The film, starring Vikrant Massey, has already garnered significant attention, particularly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly praised its effort to reveal the truth. Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) sharing the film's trailer, PM Modi commented, "Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!"
The film's commitment to presenting the historical events accurately has resonated with viewers and political figures alike. In several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, 'The Sabarmati Report' has been declared tax-free.
Political figures have also voiced their support for the film. BJP MP and actress Hema Malini described it as "very good" and emphasized its accurate portrayal of the events surrounding the Godhra incident. She stated, "There were some misunderstandings regarding that incident. Some people claimed that it was an accident, but it was done deliberately."
Chief Ministers from various states have also attended screenings of the film and expressed their admiration. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Vikrant Massey and his team for their commendable effort, stating, "The people of the country have the right to know the truth of the work that has been done to create animosity in society." He declared the film tax-free in Uttar Pradesh.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini echoed these sentiments, noting that the film sheds light on the truth behind the Godhra incident and serves as a tribute to the 59 victims who lost their lives in the tragedy. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also lauded the film after attending its screening at the 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
