Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the screening of 'The Sabarmati Report' at Parliament's Balyogi Auditorium today, alongside prominent figures such as Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Parliamentary Affairs Minister. The event was further attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several other ministers.
'The Sabarmati Report,' starring Vikrant Massey, sheds light on the tragic burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. This pivotal event triggered communal riots that shook the nation.
Recognizing the film's significance, several states have declared it tax-free, including Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The film has also garnered praise from various political leaders, with BJP MP and actress Hema Malini expressing her admiration.
Ektaa Kapoor, one of the film's producers, highlighted the meticulous research that went into its creation. She emphasized a year-long process of reviewing existing research and fact-checking findings before commencing production. "We spent a year reviewing previous research and fact-checking those findings. Only after that, we did proceed to make the film," Kapoor revealed. "That's why I am proud to have made this movie, unveiling the truth behind it."
The film has garnered significant attention following Prime Minister Modi's public commendation for its efforts in revealing the truth. Responding to a post on X sharing the film's trailer, PM Modi commented, "Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!"
Several Chief Ministers have also attended screenings of the film, praising its compelling story and paying tribute to the 59 victims who lost their lives in the tragedy. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, and Haryana CM Nayab Saini have expressed their admiration for the film.
'The Sabarmati Report,' directed by Dheeraj Sarna, features a talented cast including Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna in pivotal roles. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production, the film promises to be a poignant and impactful cinematic experience.
